FLORENCE, Ariz. (March 15, 2010) - Senior Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) fired a first round score of 73 to tie for seventh on the individual leaderboard, as the ETSU women's golf team opened play in the Northern Migration Invitational Monday at the Poston Butte Golf Club.
O'Sullivan's play helped the Bucs to a solid first round showing, as the team posted a score of 300 and finds itself tied for fourth in the 19-team field. ETSU is just two strokes off the pace of first place Texas-San Antonio, and the team finished the day ahead of teams from Iowa State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Kansas State and Texas Tech.
Individually, O'Sullivan is five strokes back of Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro, who finished the day with a 68. Other ETSU results included a pair of 75s from sophomore Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) and senior Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia), which leaves them both tied for 18th. Meanwhile, sophomore Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain) finished the day tied for 38th.
The Bucs will continue play in the Northern Migration Invitational on Tuesday, followed by third and final round action on Wednesday. For more on ETSU women's golf throughout the spring season, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the women's golf link.
