KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 25, 2010) - ETSU senior Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) and junior Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain) each posted 4-over scores of 146 to tie for 17th on the individual leaderboard Monday following first and second round play in the Palmetto Intercollegiate hosted by College of Charleston at the Oak Point Golf Club.
The effort by the Buccaneer duo helped the ETSU women to a tie for fifth in the 18-team field heading into Tuesday's third and final round. The Bucs, who finished at 592 on the day, trail team leader and host Charleston by 14 strokes.
Individually, Charleston's Leigh Wittaker finished the day at 8-under-par 134 (67-67) and holds a five-stroke edge over a pair of golfers in second place. Muehl fired rounds of 74 and 72 on the day, while Vizcarrondo enjoyed a pair of 73s.
Other ETSU results included a tie for 27th by freshman Sian Evans (Gillingham, England), while freshman Larissa Steinfeldt (Eschweiler, Germany) finished tied for 34th.
