KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 23, 2011) – ETSU freshman Gabriella Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany) continued her strong play of late, firing a first round score of 1-under-par 71 and finishing tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard midway through second round play Sunday in the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Oak Point Golf Club.
The day’s second round was postponed due to darkness and will be concluded early Monday morning, followed by third and final round action in the afternoon.
Wahl, who posted a career-best finish with a sixth-place showing at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate two weeks ago, picked up where she left off at that event by powering the ETSU women’s golf team on Sunday. The Buccaneers are currently tied for eighth on the team leaderboard and are 23 strokes back of first place UNC Greensboro.
Individually, UNCG’s Fanny Cnops leads the tournament. She is currently at 2-under for the event, while Wahl stands at even par heading into Monday’s action.
Other ETSU results include a tie for 28th by sophomore Larissa Steinfeldt (Eschweiler, Germany), while fellow sophomore Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) is tied for 38th.
