MACON, Ga. (Oct. 9, 2013) – Following a first round score of 5-under-par 67 and helping lead the ETSU women’s golf team to its first tournament victory of the season at the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate earlier this week, sophomore Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia) was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Week on Wednesday.
The 2012 A-Sun Freshman of the Year, Chin posted a total of 220 (67-77-76=220, +4), tallied nine birdies, and placed as high as third before finishing in a tie for fifth. Her teammate and last week's Player of the Week, Gabriella Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany), joined her in the tournament's top 10.
The Bucs faced a solid 16-team field, and Chin led No. 43 ETSU ahead of several top-90 teams such as host and No. 48 East Carolina, No. 64 Middle Tennessee State, No. 68 Chattanooga, No. 75 Penn State, No. 84 Georgia State, No. 86 Maryland and No. 90 Old Dominion.
This marks the third A-Sun weekly honor for Chin.
The Buccaneers will return to action for their final tournament of the fall season on Oct. 27 at the Edwin Watts/Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C. For more on ETSU women’s golf throughout the 2013-14 season, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the women’s golf link.
