Lady Bucs golf currently fifth at Minnesota Invitational

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (Sept. 20, 2003) - East Tennessee State placed three players in the Top 15 during first and second round play at the Minnesota Invitational Saturday at the 6,108-yard, Par 72 Les Bolstad Golf Course. Junior Robin Downes (Johnson City) led the way for the Bucs, as the former Science Hill High School star shot a 16-over 160 (79-81) to finish tied for 11th. Meanwhile, sophomores Laura Diaz (Aguadilla, Puerto Rico) and Kailey Brooks (Bracebridge, Ontario) carded scores of 17-over to finish tied for 15th. The Bucs are currently 13 strokes back of front-running Bradley University, who leads home-standing and second-place Minnesota by three strokes. Individually, Terra Petsinger of Minnesota leads after shooting 1-under for the first round and finishing the day at 9-over. Other ETSU results included sophomore Ashley Barton (Seffner, Fla.), who finished tied for 19th at 18-over, while senior Kristen Fletcher (Cookeville) is currently tied for 33rd at 24-over. Third and final round action at the Minnesota Invitational will take place Sunday.
