DESTIN, Fla. (Feb. 25, 2007) - The ETSU women's golf team improved on its first round score by 13 strokes and moved to ninth on the team leaderboard following second round play Sunday in the Chrysler Challenge hosted for Florida State.

Currently, the Bucs are being led by junior Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia), who is currently 22nd after posting a 78 Sunday at the Baytowne Golf Course at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Giraldo is 12 strokes off the pace set by leader Caroline Westrup of Florida State, whose Seminole teammates hold a 20 stroke advantage over North Carolina on the team leaderboard.

"We improved over yesterday, but our spring is just off to a rough start right now," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds, whose team is coming off the most successful fall campaign in school history. "Especially in golf the hard days are the ones you learn from. Right now, our team is trying to learn from our mistakes."

Along with Giraldo, other ETSU results of note included a tie for 30th by junior Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) and a tie for 35th by sophomore Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales).

The Bucs will return to action in third and final round play on Monday. Visit ETSUBucs.com at the conclusion of the day's action for a complete recap and scores.
