CHULA VISTA, Calif. (Oct. 16, 2007) - Junior Lucy Gould (Bargoed, Wales) posted a team best round of 2-over-par 74 Tuesday to lead the ETSU women's golf team to a second place finish in the Aztec Fall Classic hosted by San Diego State at the Salt Creek Golf Course. The Buccaneers finished tied for second with Hawaii at 603, 10 strokes back of team champion UC Irvine.

The second place showing represents the Bucs best team performance so far this season.

"I'm extremely pleased with the way our ladies played today and the way we contended throughout this tournament," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds Shelton. "This shows the potential we have and is a big improvement over our earlier tournaments so far this season. I think our entire team is really motivated to get back out there and continue to play at this high level."

Individually, Gould ended the event with ETSU's best effort, finishing sixth on the leaderboard at 5-over 149, seven strokes back of individual champion Patty Chawalitmetha from UC Irvine. Along with Gould, the Bucs placed two more players in the Top 11, as sophomore Sinead O'Sullivan posted a 76 on the day to finish tied for seventh at 150, while senior Maria Ringdahl (Oland, Sweden) matched Gould's team best 74 on Tuesday to jump into a tie for 11th.

Other ETSU results included a tie for 23rd for senior Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia), with sophomore Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) finishing the day tied for 39th.

The Bucs will return to action this weekend in the Lady Paladin Invitational hosted by Furman University. Play at the Furman event begins Friday and runs through Sunday. For more on ETSU women's golf, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the women's golf link.
