MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (Sept. 25, 2007) - Senior Natalia Giraldo (Cali, Colombia) followed up a great first round with a quality 1-over-par 73 to finish at even par Tuesday in the final round of the Myrtle Beach Classic at the Grande Dunes Resort Golf Course.
Giraldo and the rest of the ETSU women's golf team ended the event ninth on the team leaderboard, while East Carolina held on for a one stroke win over UNC Greensboro. Giraldo placed tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard, just two strokes off the pace of individual champion Abby Bools from East Carolina, who captured medalist honors in a playoff.
"Natalia even was awesome," said ETSU head coach Stefanie Reynolds Shelton. "Individually, we have players putting together some great rounds, but it hasn't materialized for us as a team. I know we have a team capable of great things, and we still have high expectations for this season. We'll be looking forward to our next chance to compete two weeks in San Diego."
Along with Giraldo, sophomore Laura Jansone (Jurmala, Latvia) finished tied for 33rd, while sophomore Sinead O'Sullivan (Galway, Ireland) ended the day tied for 41st.
The Lady Bucs will enjoy a two week break before returning to action Oct. 15 at the San Diego State Aztec Fall Classic.
