AUGUSTA, Ga. (March 17, 2012) Freshman Gabrielle Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany) carded a team-best score of 1-over-par 73, leading the ETSU women’s golf team to its current fifth place standing following second round play at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate Saturday at the Forest Hills Golf Club.

Individually, Wahl moved up three spots on the leaderboard to a tie for ninth place as the event moves into its third and final round on Sunday.

As a team, ETSU carded a round of 299 and holds a one stroke lead over Indiana for fifth place. The Bucs are just four strokes back of fourth-place Kennesaw State, while Texas-San Antonio continues to lead the event by four strokes over host Augusta State.

Wahl is six strokes back of individual leader Casey Kennedy of Augusta State, who holds the lead by just one shot over Purdue’s Paula Reto.

Along with Wahl, ETSU got a solid 2-over-par 74 effort from sophomore Sian Evans (Gillingham, England), who rebounded from a tough outing during Friday’s opening day. While Evans is currently tied for 36th, senior Mayte Vizcarrondo (Cadiz, Spain) enters the final round tied for 24th after posting a 76 on Saturday.

Other ETSU results included another tie for 36th by sophomore Larissa Steinfeldt (Eschweiler, Germany) and a tie for 39th by junior Chloe Garner (Somerset West, South Africa).
