Women’s Golf

This week: For the third straight weekend, the ETSU women’s golf team will be in action as the Bucs head to North Carolina for the UNC-Greensboro Starmount Forest Tournament, beginning Monday, Oct. 1. The Bucs will play 36-holes on Monday, followed by the final 18 Tuesday at the Starmount Forest Country Club. ETSU fans can follow all the action via Golfstat.com.

Last week: The ETSU women’s golf team put together three solid rounds last week at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, which was held at the Red Sky Golf Club’s Fazio Course in Wolcott, Colo. The Bucs – who finished eight strokes ahead of No. 2-ranked UCLA – placed eighth out of 18 teams, while Gabrielle Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany) tied for 15th after carding a 5-over-par 221 in the 54-hole tournament.

Men’s Soccer (4-5-1, 0-1-0 A-Sun)

This week: The Bucs continue their four-game home stand by hosting North Florida and Jacksonville this weekend at Summers-Taylor Stadium. ETSU takes on UNF Friday night at 7 p.m., while kickoff with the Dolphins is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday. Both games will be video streamed live on ASun.TV, while live stats will be provided via ETSUBucs.com.

Last week: After playing to a 1-all tie at No. 25 Furman on Thursday night, the ETSU men’s soccer team dropped its conference opener as Mercer defeated the Blue and Gold, 2-1, Sunday afternoon in Johnson City. Senior Alesi Osorio (Austin, Texas) scored his first goal of the season to put the Bucs ahead, 1-0, Thursday against the Paladins, but Furman’s Tyler Peoples put in the equalizer with 15 seconds remaining in regulation to force the tie. Meanwhile, on Sunday, the Blue and Gold outshot Mercer, 19-4, but only sent one ball to the back of the net as Luis Calzadilla (Caracas, Venezuela) pulled ETSU even with the Bears early on in the second half. Unfortunately, the game didn’t remain tied for long as Ehjayson Henry scored his second goal of the game three minutes later, proving to be the game-winning goal.

Women’s Soccer (8-4-0, 2-2 A-Sun)

This week: ETSU will only be in action once this week when the Bucs travel to Spartanburg, S.C. to face USC Upstate on Saturday night. Game time is set for 7 p.m. at County University Soccer Stadium. Free live video will be streamed on ASun.TV and live stats will be available on ETSUBucs.com.

Last week: For the second straight weekend, the Bucs walked away with a split in A-Sun play as ETSU came away with a 3-1 win at Kennesaw State last Friday, before falling to Mercer by the same score Sunday afternoon. Junior Ramey Kerns (Kings Mountain, N.C.) made history against the Owls as the Kings Mountain, N.C. native broke the ETSU single-season goals record by netting her 13th goal on the year. Overall, the Blue and Gold scored three unanswered goals versus Kennesaw State as Jasmin Dutton (Kinmel Bay, Wales) and Sarah Zadrazil (St. Gilgen, Austria) also sent one flying past the Owl keeper. However, things weren’t so sound for the Blue and Gold on Sunday as junior Samantha Kron (Paradise Valley, Ariz.) tied the game at one with her goal in the 31st minute, but Mercer followed with a pair of scores to cap off the two-goal victory from Bear Field.

The Bucs also took in a doubles title, setting up another all-ETSU final with Jesus Bandres (Caracas, Venezuela) and Ribeiro earning one spot, and Ramirez and Varon earning the other. That final was not contested either, but in all the Buccaneers walked away with five titles, boasting a 20-1 singles record and 6-1 doubles mark.
