ORANGE PARK, Fla. (March 10, 2013) – Placing three players in the Top 20 individually, the ETSU women’s golf team posted a strong score on the final day of play in the JMU Eagle Landing Invitational, finishing fifth in the 17-team field Sunday at the Eagle Landing Golf Club.

ETSU senior Chloe Garner (Somerset West, South Africa) carded a team-best score of 2-over-par 74 on the day, and finished tied for 19th along with teammates Vivienne Chin (Kata Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia) and Sian Evans (Gillingham, England). As a team, the Bucs began the day tied for ninth and moved up four spots on the team leaderboard by the end of the event.

“The team was determined to make a charge today and they did that by moving up to fifth,” said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. “The ladies remained focused and fought on every shot out there, and I’m proud of the pride and heart with which they played.”

No. 36 Campbell collected the team championship, while East Carolina’s F. Gustafsson Spang bested the field by three strokes to capture the individual title.

Other ETSU results included a tie for 30th by sophomore Gabriella Wahl (Heidenheim, Germany) and a tie for 48th by junior Lourdes Lopez (Cadiz, Spain).

The ETSU women will return to action Friday at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Invitational in Augusta, Ga. For more on ETSU women’s golf throughout the 2013 spring season, visit ETSUBucs.com and click on the women’s golf link.
