JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. (April 13, 2014) – Intent on defending its 2013 title, the ETSU women’s golf team will begin play Monday in the 25th Atlantic Sun Conference Championships at the Jekyll Island Golf Club’s Pine Lakes Course.

A year ago, the Buccaneers captured the team title with a three-round total of 880, and the team returns four of their five players from that 2013 squad. ETSU also currently has the highest Golfweek and Golfstat rankings among Atlantic Sun teams, and looks to become the 11th repeat champion in the championship's 25-year history.

Entering the event, ETSU ranks 45th in the most recent poll, while earning a 50th rank in the Golfweek listing.

Overall, the A-Sun celebrated six tournament victories this year during the regular season. Mercer led the way with two wins, while Jacksonville made history winning for the first time since 2006-07. ETSU, FGCU and Lipscomb were the other tournament winners over the course of the 2013-14 season. Individually the conference had eight golfers claim tournament victories.
