ETSU’s Sian Evans named A-Sun Golfer of the Week

Wednesday, September 18, 2013

MACON, Ga. (Sept. 18, 2013) – The Atlantic Sun Conference office announced Wednesday that ETSU senior Sian Evans (Gillingham, England) has been named the league’s women’s golfer of the week after firing a 223 to lead the Buccaneers to a sixth-place team finish and a tie for seventh individually in an extremely challenging field at the Mary Fossum Invitational.

Evans (76-75-72=223, +7) enjoyed the best showing by an ETSU player on the weekend and helped the Bucs best teams such as Miami and Indiana. ETSU also finished just four strokes out of third place, ending the tournament just behind national powers like Notre Dame, Northwestern and Oregon.

Evans' score of 72 was one of only three posted of par or better in the final round of competition, and she finished only six strokes back of the tournament's medalist.

A three-time All-Conference selection, Evans earns her second career A-Sun Women's Golf Player of the Week award.
