TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Feb. 14, 2015) – Sophomore Rachel Pollock (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) and redshirt freshman Dominika Czudkova (Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic) both posted team-best rounds of 4-over-par 76, as the ETSU women’s golf team held its position following second round play in the Florida State Matchup Saturday at the Southwood Golf Course.

The Bucs, who are facing a field that includes No. 2 South Carolina, No. 9 Mississippi State, No. 16 Texas A&M, No. 17 Virginia, No. 26 Furman, No. 38 Florida State and No. 42 Coastal Carolina, are still 10th on the team leaderboard following two days of play. Sophomore Linda Dobele (Ogre, Latvia) is currently the top ETSU individual and finds herself tied for 35th after a round of 6-over 78 on Saturday.

ETSU improved their team score by two strokes compared to Friday’s first round. Pollock said the team has been pleased with the first two days of play.

“I had a better mindset today that freed up my swing,” Pollock said. “I had a lot of confidence with my swing. I just needed a couple more putts to drop and they will tomorrow. I’m proud of my team for improving from yesterday and I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s round.”

Meanwhile, Czudkova said she was also anticipating a chance to be back on the course again tomorrow.

“I’m excited to play tomorrow and see lots of birdies for our team,” Czudkova said. “Being our first tournament, I was very tense yesterday. Today, I put more focus on my pre-shot routine and that helped me hit the ball freely. That was the key for me.”

On the tournament leaderboard, South Carolina finished the day at 591 and leads host Florida State and Virginia by three strokes in the team competition. Individually, Texas A&M’s Bianca Fabrizio continues to lead the event with a score of 3-under-par 141, and holds a two-stroke lead over Furman’s Taylor Totland.

Other ETSU results included a 5-over-par 77 from freshman Allyson Dunn (Kingsport), who finished tied for 51st along with junior Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia), Czudkova and Pollock.
