OXFORD, Miss. (April 3, 2015) – Junior Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia ) carded a first round score of even-par 72 to lead the ETSU women’s golf team during first round play in the Rebel Intercollegiate Friday at the Ole Miss Golf Course.

Chin, along with four other ETSU players, posted scores in the 70s as the Buccaneers finished the day in 12th place out of an 18-team field, a group that includes five programs ranked in the Top 40 nationally. Individually, Chin finished the day in 13th place.

“Our goal today was to play aggressive golf and it obviously clicked with the team as it looked like the most enjoyable tournament day we have had,” said ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton. “We have a clear vision of how to play this course and executed today.”

No. 15-ranked Furman is currently atop the team leaderboard by one stroke over No. 19 Texas A&M. The Paladins fired an even-par 288 as a team. Individually, Kent State’s Josee Doyon posted the low round of the day with a 2-under-par 69 and finished ahead of five other players who tied for second place.

Other ETSU results included a 3-over-par 75 by sophomore Linda Dobele (Ogre, Latvia) and freshman Dominika Czudkova (Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic), who both finished tied for 35th. Meanwhile, sophomore Rachel Pollock (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) and freshman Allyson Dunn (Kingsport) are tied for 56th and 86th, respectively.
