JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 15, 2015) – East Tennessee State concluded their final day in the Ptarmigan Ram Classic Tuesday. On the second day, the 17 teams played one round of 18 holes, and the Bucs finished tied for 12th.

Freshman Hee Ying Loy (Taman Sri Kulai Baru, Kulaijata, Malaysia) and junior Rachel Pollock (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) led the five-person ETSU team with both shooting 79s in the third round. Loy finished with the second best overall score on the team with a 228, which was 12 over par. Pollock shot just two strokes behind Loy and placed tied for 46th place in the two-day tournament.

Senior Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia) led the team in the tournament overall by carding a 227 with 11 over par. Unlike yesterday, Chin performed better on the back nine by finishing just three over par. She finished tied for 35th with four other golfers. The Bucs all performed better on the first day because weather conditions Tuesday started to become a factor and affect all golfers.

“Today the wind picked up, and we struggled committing and lost some shots,” said head coach Stefanie Shelton.

The Bucs finished with an overall score of 914 in the tournament and have officially finished their first tournament of the season.

“We had a great day yesterday by posting two solid rounds. It was an excellent start to the year,” Shelton said. “This tournament allowed us the opportunity to compete against a field of west coast teams while stepping outside of our comfort zone which is valuable experience.”

BYU won the tournament by shooting eight over par with a total score of 876.

East Tennessee State will travel to nearby Greenville, S.C. to participate in the 2015 Lady Paladin. This tournament is hosted by Southern Conference foe Furman University and will take place September 20 to September 22.
