ETSU travels to Augusta for 3M Augusta Invitational

­Johnson City, Tenn. (March 10, 2016) – Head coach Stefanie Shelton and the ETSU women’s golf team will travel to Augusta, Ga. to play three rounds at the Forest Hills Golf Club starting March 11.

Last Time Out

The Bucs finished just a pair of strokes out of the top five at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic. Out of the 41 teams in the tournament, the Bucs managed to outduel 34 teams to finish as the top sixth team. ETSU finished with an 898 overall score (298-304-296) and placed tied for sixth overall.

Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah Malaysia) finished the tournament tied for seventh individually. She finished the three-day tournament at Kiawah Island with a 217 (72-73-72). She started the tournament in ninth place and stayed in the top ten throughout the tournament.

Linda Dobele (Ogre, Latvia) and Dominika Czudkova (Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic) each finished their final outing carding a 2-over 74. Three of the five golfers for ETSU finished in the top 50 and four within the top 100.

Previewing 3M Augusta Invitational

The three-day tournament will feature 16 teams with three from the SoCon (ETSU, Furman, and Mercer) and one from ETSU’s former conference, A-Sun (Kennesaw State). The Blue and Gold will face stout competition this weekend as they will see two teams in the top 25 (No. 17 Florida State and No. 21 Texas A&M) and five teams in the top 50.

Forest Hills is a par 72 course and features 6,246 yards at the 18 hole course. ETSU will begin day one at 11:15 a.m. on hole one. Chin will be the last to tee off for the Bucs at 11:55 a.m. The team are paired with Illinois University and Kennesaw State.

Texas A&M golfer, Maddie Szeryk, is ranked 27th in the nation and will be teeing off just before ETSU at 11:05 a.m. Florida State will send two of the top 50 individual golfers out this weekend (No. 43 Matilda Castren and No. 48 Kim Metraux) to compete for the individual trophy in Augusta.
