JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 9, 2016) – ETSU women’s golf is heading to Pooler, Ga. for the SoCon Championship Tournament, which starts on April 10 at the Savannah Quarters. The Bucs will tee off at 9:40 a.m. on hole one to begin the three-day outing.

About the Course and Tournament

The Savannah Quarters is a 6,050-yard, par-72 course. ETSU played 54 holes last year at this course and finished in sixth place. Dominika Czudkova (Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic) paced the Bucs last year as she finished at 2-over 218 (1-under 143 on the final two days), and Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia) placed 15th with a 6-over 222 after carding two 1-over 73s in the final two rounds.

The Bucs are looking for their fourth conference tournament victory under head coach Stefanie Shelton and the first conference win since the Bucs won back-to-back years in 2013 and 2014 in the Atlantic-Sun Conference.

ETSU will see familiar competition as the Bucs played in at least one tournament this season with each of the Southern Conference members. The Blue and Gold are paired with 22nd-ranked Furman and 65th-ranked Chattanooga in Sunday’s opening round.

The winning team of the SoCon Championship will receive the automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Regionals.

What To Look For

Hee Ying Loy (Baru, Kulaijaya, Malaysia) has been shooting well for the Blue and Gold as secured top-six finishes in three of her last five tournaments. Loy comes into the tournament with a scoring average of 73.70, which is the best on the team. Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia) is the eighth best individual in the Southern Conference this year as she averages 74.56 and has finished in the top-25 four times this year.

Czudkova is another player to watch in Pooler as she turned in a strong outing at the 2015 SoCon Championship by finishing eighth overall.
