Buccaneer duo placed on All-Conference Team; Loy honored with All-Freshman honors

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (April 14, 2016) – The ETSU women’s golf team had two players earn postseason Southern Conference honors as league office announced its all-conference awards on Thursday. Hee Ying Loy (Baru, Kulaijaya, Malaysia) and Vivienne Chin (Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia) landed on the all-conference team, while Loy was also placed on the All-Freshman Team.

ETSU head coach Stefanie Shelton was pleased to see Chin and Loy get recognized for their hard work throughout the season.

“Vivienne and Hee Ying have consistently led our team all year and I am proud to see them be rewarded for their efforts,” said Shelton. “This is a well-deserved honor for both Vivienne and Loy.”

“Loy and Chin have consistently led the team all year. All-Conference is a well-deserved honor,” said Shelton.

Loy was recognized by the conference for her performance in her first season for the Blue and Gold. She recorded a stroke average of 73.77 as a rookie, which was the lowest average on the team. Loy shot a season-best 3-under-par 69 twice this season as she accomplished the feat in the second round of the Fall Invitational on October 5 and in the third round of the 3M Augusta Invitational on March 12.

Loy finished in the top-10 five times this season including three in her last four outings, and the Buccaneer freshman placed in the top-25 seven out of the team’s ten. Her highest finish came at the 3M Augusta Invitational, where she finished tied for second.

As the lone senior on the team, Chin was a leader for the Bucs as she finished with a scoring average of 74.53. She posted the lowest score by an ETSU golfer this year at the Pinehurst Challenge on October 12 with a 4-under-par 68. Chin finished tied for eighth at the SoCon Championships and has registered four top-10 finishes this season placed in the top-25 six times in her final season in the Blue and Gold. Chin was also the only Buccaneer to record an eagle this season as it came in the first round of the Southern Conference Championship. Chin posted a two on the par-4 No. 11 at the Savannah Quarters Country Club.
