JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 22, 2016) – Coming off a top-5 finish at the Red Raider Invitational, the ETSU women’s golf team will head to SoCon rival Furman for the three-day 2016 Lady Paladin Invitational starting on Friday, Sept. 23.

Loy Hee Ying (Baru, Kulaijaya, Malaysia) is leading the Buccaneers and is tied for 5th in the SoCon in round average (73.67). She shot a team-low 72 on the second day of the Red Raider Invitational and finished tied for 8th individually at the Texas Tech tournament.
Linda Dobele (Ogre, Latvia) and Ankita Kedlaya (Bangalore, India) both finished tied for 22nd in the season-opener in Texas. The duo each shot a 10-over 226 (75-75-76) for their first top-25 finish of the season.
As a team, ETSU clinched a top-5 spot after improving two spots on the final day. The Bucs finished with a 905 (302-303-300) at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, TX. New Mexico State claimed the top spot of the tournament by a nine stroke lead over host school, Texas Tech.
Previewing the Lady Paladin Tournament
The reining team champions, Missouri, return to the Furman Golf Course in hopes to win in back-to-back tournaments. Last year the Tigers finished with an 871 (293-288-290) team score outpacing host school, Furman, by eight strokes. ETSU finished ninth as a team and was led by Loy Hee Ying, who finished tied for 35th individually.
The three day tournament will be held at The Furman University Gold Course. The course is a par-72, 6,313-yard on the campus of Furman.
This year’s tournament has four top-50 teams including SoCon rival Furman (20th), Texas (32nd), Missouri (42nd) and Augusta (48th).
The Bucs will start their first round at 10:30 a.m. on hole one, and they will be paired with Middle Tennessee State, Virginia Tech, and UNC-Wilmington.
