Bucs end first day at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 23, 2016) – After day one at the 2016 Lady Paladin Invitational, the ETSU women’s golf team sits in 17th with senior Linda Dobele (Ogre, Latvia) leading the way with a 2-over 74 on Friday.

Dobele leads the Buccaneers after carding her lowest round this season. She sank three birdies including two in her first six holes. Dominika Czudkova (Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic) is second on the team after inking a 3-over 75 on the first day. She also recorded her lowest round of the season, and she matched Dobele by sinking three birdies on the first 18 holes.

Loy Hee Ying (Baru, Kulaijaya, Malaysia) was the most consistent golfer on Friday as she recorded 13 pars and one birdie in the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational.

The Bucs currently sit in 17th place and just four strokes away from matching No. 48 Augusta University. ETSU shot 16-over 304 and finds itself ahead of SoCon foes Mercer and Wofford by at least four strokes.

Host school, No. 20 Furman, leads the tournament with a 7-under 281. Middle Tennessee State University claimed the second slot after shooting 6-under 282 and leads No. 32 Texas by one stroke heading into day two at the Lady Paladin Invitational.

Emilee Hoffman of Texas leads the pack individually at 7-under 65. She inked three straight birdies on holes 5-8 and sank eight total birdies. MTSU has a duo of golfers that are in the top-5 individually. Lacie York shot a 4-under 68, and Jenna Burris carded 3-under 69 to lead the Blue Raiders.

The second day for the Buccaneers will start at 9:45 a.m., and ETSU is paired with Minnesota, Mercer, and Wofford.
