JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 22, 2016) – For its final tournament of the fall season, the ETSU women’s golf team will head to Kiawah Island, S.C. to participate in the three-day Palmetto Intercollegiate starting on Sunday, Oct. 23.
Last Outing Recap
Loy Hee Ying (Baru, Kulaijaya, Malaysia) led the Bucs in the last outing as she finished second individually at the Johnie Imes Invitational. The sophomore finished at 3-under 213 in a four-way tie in Columbia, Mo.
Senior Rachel Pollock (Guelph, Ontario, Canada) recorded her lowest round of the year at 2-over 74 on the second day of the tournament. In the first two rounds, Linda Dobele (Ogre, Latvia) shot even-par 144, and she finished in the top-25 individually after her 5-over 77 performance in the third round at the Old Hawthorne Golf Course.
As a team, ETSU finished in 7th, but the Bucs were near the top of the leaderboard in the first two rounds as it was tied for 4th at 7-over 583 after day one.
Previewing Palmetto Intercollegiate
The Palmetto Intercollegiate is hosted by the College of Charleston. The tournament is being played at the Kiawah Island Resort on Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. Turtle Point is a 5,972-yard, par-72 course.
Of the 20 participating teams, two teams are ranked in the top-50 with Augusta University leading the pack at 34th. There are five teams ranked in the top-75 including in-state Southern Conference rival, Chattanooga (43rd).
There are three teams participating in the Palmetto Intercollegiate that are from the SoCon including Mercer and UNCG.
ETSU is set to tee-off starting at 10:45 a.m. on hole one. Dominika Czudkova (Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic) will be the first to tee-off for the Bucs.
