TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (May 9, 2018) ETSU standout Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) brought her 2017 18 to an end on a high note on Wednesday, birdying her last hole in the third and final round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional. It was her second straight 73, giving her a three-day total of 222 that put her in a tie for 49th on the leaderboard and 25th out of players not on the six teams who advanced to the national tournament.

(May 8, 2018) -- Despite a marked improvement in the second round, ETSU's Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) faces an uphill battle as she tries to reach the next level in the NCAA Tournament. Loy fired a 1-over par 73 on Tuesday, in Round 2 of the Tallahassee Regional. That is three shots better than Monday’s first round but still leaves her 13 strokes out of a spot in the National Championships.

Loy, Melecka Earn SoCon Recognition

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (May 1, 2018) -- The Southern Conference unveiled its 2018 women’s golf all-conference team today, and it included some history for ETSU. Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) became the first ETSU player to earn three consecutive All-SoCon honors, and Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) gave the Bucs an All-Freshman selection for the fourth straight year.

ETSU Ends SoCon Championships on High Note

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (April 16, 2018) -- ETSU ended the 2017 Southern Conference Championships with some good news Tuesday, getting a rare eagle and posting its best round of the tournament on the way to a 6th-place finish on a clear, breezy, 54-degree day in Hilton Head, S.C. Three Bucs posted their lowest individual numbers, and Tuesday’s team score of 314 put them at 965 for the event.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (April 16, 2018) -- ETSU is in 6th place after the second round of the Southern Conference Championships, Monday in Hilton Head, S.C. The Bucs totaled a 328, putting them at 651 for the tournament, five shots behind UNCG and Samford, who are tied for 4th. Wofford is seven strokes behind the Bucs in 7th place in the nine-team field.

HILTON HEAD, S.C. (April 15, 2018) -- The ETSU women’s golf team stands in 5th place after the first round of the Southern Conference Championships on Sunday in Hilton Head, S.C. The Bucs’ 323 team score has them in the thick of a tightly-packed middle tier in the nine-team field. Only 11 shots separate 4th-place Samford from 7th-place Wofford with two rounds left to play.

(April 14, 2018) – ETSU’s women’s golf team has played eight tournaments this academic year, with the aim of being ready for its ninth, and most important – the Southern Conference Championships, starting Sunday in Hilton Head, S.C. The winning team earns an automatic bid to the NCAA post-season. In addition, the top 24 individual players from teams that didn’t get a post-season spot receive an at large bid. NCAA play begins May 7.


Bucs Claim 9th After Final Round of Brickyard

MACON, Ga. (April 10, 2018) -- Paced by an even-par effort from Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia), the ETSU women’s golf team held on to 9th place after the third and final round of the Brickyard Collegiate tournament on Tuesday in Macon, Ga. The Bucs’ score of 308 put them at 926 for the tournament, two shots ahead of North Florida and six better than LSU, which went to Macon at #40 in the Golfstat.com NCAA Division I rankings. The Brickyard was ETSU’s final tune-up before the Southern Conference Championships next week.


Kedlaya Helps Bucs Move Up at Brickyard

MACON, Ga. (April 9, 2018) -- Propelled by a season-best round from Ankita Kedlaya (Bangalore, India), ETSU’s women’s golf team moved up a spot Monday in the Brickyard Collegiate tournament in Macon, Ga. The Bucs stand in a tie with North Florida and 40th-ranked LSU for 9th in a field of 14 teams. Kedlaya’s one-over par 73 was her top round of the 2017-18 schedule by two strokes and matches her career best, set in October 2016.

Bucs 10th After 1st Round of Brickyard

MACON, Ga. (April 8, 2018) A slow start proved to be tough to overcome for the ETSU womens golf team in the opening round of the Brickyard Collegiate tournament on Sunday. The Bucs were combined six over par through the first three holes and ended the day tied for tenth place out of 14 teams with a score of 317 on a cool, overcast day at the par 72, 6155 yard Brickyard Golf Course. ETSU found its best success on par 5s, going even par on the day to be the third best team in that category.


Brickyard Gives Bucs A Pre-SoCon Tuneup

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 7, 2018) -- With the Southern Conference Championships coming up, the ETSU women’s golf team gets in a final tuneup this weekend, starting Sunday at the Brickyard Collegiate tournament in Macon, Ga. The Bucs are back in the contiguous 48 states after a 13th-place showing at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic, March 26-28 in Kapalua, Hawai’i. The Brickyard is the final tournament before the SoCon tournament begins on April 15 in Hilton Head, S.C.

KAPALUA, MAUI, HAWAI’I (March 28, 2018) The ETSU womens golf team finished 13th after the third and final round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic on Wednesday. The Bucs’ team score of 310 put them at 924 for the tournament on the par 72, 6012 yard Bay Course. It was the first time ETSU had played in Hawaii. Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) turned in the best round of the day with her second straight 1 over par 73.


Bucs End Where They Started on Day 2 of Anuenue

KAPALUA, MAUI, HAWAI’I (March 27, 2018) -- An up-and-down day for the ETSU women’s golf team ended with the Bucs in the same spot where they began. ETSU went into Tuesday’s 2nd round of the Anuenue Spring Break Classic in 12th place, rose to as high as 7th, but wound up back in 12th as the teams returned to the clubhouse.

Bucs Make Longest-Ever Trip For Next Tournament

(March 25, 2018) -- Most of the trips the ETSU women’s golf team will take this spring are pretty routine – four- or five-hour drives to places like Kiawah Island, S.C. or Macon, Ga. But not this weekend. The Bucs have journeyed more than 4500 miles to play in the Anuenue Spring Break Classic in Lahaina, Hawai’i. The three-round, 13-team tournament begins Monday and runs through Wednesday at the par 72, 6012-yard Kapalua Bay Course.


Loy Named SoCon Player of the Week

(March 21, 2018) For the first time this year and the fourth time in her career, ETSU standout Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) is the Southern Conference Womens Golf Player of the Week. (March 17, 2018) – The ETSU womens golf team ended in 10th place, and Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) claimed 8th on the individual leaderboard, after the 3rd and final round of the 3M Augusta Invitational on Sunday. The Bucs posted a team total of 303 on Sunday to finish at 909 for the weekend. Loy fired an even-par 72 to finish the tournament at 1-under 215 on a sunny, 76-degree day at the 6228-yard Forest Hills Golf Club in Augusta, Ga.


Bucs Hold On To 10th in Augusta Invitational

AUGUSTA, Ga. (March 17, 2018) -- With four players turning in improved scores, the ETSU women’s golf team held on to 10th place out of 15 squads after Saturday’s second round of the 3M Augusta Invitational in Augusta, Ga. The Bucs trimmed eight shots off their Friday team total with a 299, for a two-day total of 606, at the par-72, 6228-yard Forest Hills Golf Club. ETSU was the 4th-best team on par 5’s, with an average score of 5.08 and an aggregate total of 3-over par.

(AUGUSTA, Ga.) March 16, 2018 Carding eight birdies, ETSU standout Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) has put herself in contention after Friday’s first round of the 3M Augusta Invitational. The junior got as low as 3-under par before finishing with a 2-under 70 on the par-72, 6228-yard Forest Hills Golf Club. She’s tied for 4th, four strokes behind Jillian Hollis of Georgia atop the leaderboard. The Bucs’ team score of 19-over 307 has them 10th out of 15 squads playing on a sunny, breezy, 73-degree day on the Georgia-South Carolina border.


Loy Down Two Spots in Palmer Cup Standings

NORMAN, OKLA. (March 8, 2018) The hopes of an ETSU standout playing in one of the most prestigious events in college golf have suffered a setback. Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) stands at 16 in the latest standings for the Arnold Palmer Cup, released today by the Golf Coaches Association of America. That is down two spots from the standings of February 22, three days before ETSU played its first tournament of the spring season, the Edwin Watts Classic in Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Loy, a junior, moved up 52 spots over the final two rounds to finish 9 out of 218 players .

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (February 27, 2018) -- On a day when sub-par scores were tough to come by, ETSU continued its march up the leaderboard on the third and final day of the Edwin Watts Classic. The Bucs posted a team total of 302 on Tuesday, tied for 5th out of the field of 43 squads. The strong finish vaulted ETSU up seven spots to 9th in the final standings in their first event of the 2018 spring season, after the Bucs found themselves 24th after the opening round on Sunday.

(February 26, 2018) -- ETSU moved up the leaderboards on the second day of the Edwin Watts Classic on Monday, getting in position to reach the top ten in the team and individual standings going into the third and final round on Tuesday. The Bucs posted a team score of 294 for the second consecutive day, good enough to improve eight spots in the team standings, from 24th to 16th, in the field of 43. ETSU stands at 598 for the tournament, just eight strokes behind Fairleigh Dickenson for the last spot in the top ten.

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C (February 26, 2018) -- Returning to tournament play for the first time in four months, ETSU’s women’s golf team began its 2018 spring season by placing 24th out of 43 squads after the first round of the Edwin Watts Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C. The Bucs’ 304 team score has them in a tie with High Point and IUPUI in the team standings, eight shots out of the top ten with two rounds to play. The host school, the College of Charleston, has the first-round lead, one stroke ahead of William & Mary and two strokes up on Murray State.


Bucs Prep for Spring Season; Loy Rises in Palmer Cup

NORMAN, Okla. (February 22, 2018) – ETSU’s women’s golf team doesn’t start its spring season until Sunday. But there’s already good news. Junior Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) has made a big move up in the latest International player standings for the Arnold Palmer Cup, announced today by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Loy, the reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year, currently stands at 14th. That’s up four spots from the first spring rankings on February 8, and five up from the final Fall standings last November 16.

NORMAN, Okla. (Nov. 16, 2017) -- ETSU women's golfer Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) is in the running for one of the most prestigious honors in collegiate golf -- a spot in the Arnold Palmer Cup. Event organizers announced November 15 that the Bucs junior and reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year is 19th among International players. The top 12 men's and women's players, American and International, earn spots in the Arnold Palmer Cup. The top six in the last pre-event rankings – due out next spring – automatically qualify.


Former Buc Muehl Earns European Tour Card

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, England (Nov. 7, 2017) -- Former ETSU golfer Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) has taken an important step forward in her professional career, securing a full-time exemption to the Ladies’ European Tour for next year. Muehl finished tied for 6th in the LET Access Series El Saler tournament in Valencia, Spain on October 27. The result put her 3rd in the LETAS 2017 Order of Merit, where the top five earn their tour cards for the 2018 Ladies European Tour. The LETAS is the official developmental tour to the Ladies European Tour, much the same role the Web.com Tour serves to the men’s PGA Tour in the United States. The native of Vienna, Austria finished in the top ten in ten of her last 13 tournaments, and shot a course record 64 in the second round of the Bossey Ladies Championship in Bossey, France on August 16.

Bucs Move Up Two Spots in Final Round of Palmetto

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 24, 2017) – Propelled by their best round of the tournament, ETSU’s women’s golf team moved up two spots Tuesday on the third and final day of the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C. The Bucs’ 297 team score was ten shots better than Monday’s second round and put them at 918 for the tournament. Tuesday’s result lifted ETSU to 13th in the standings in their final event of the 2017 fall season.


ETSU Moves Up at Day 2 of Palmetto

(Oct. 23, 2017) – ETSU’s women’s golf team took a step up in the second round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate tournament on Monday, with four of the five players improving their scores, and the one who didn’t remaining in contention for Medalist honors. The Bucs’ team score 307 was seven shots better than Sunday’s first round, bumped them to 15th in the team standings, and put the team in a position to contend for a spot in the top ten in tomorrow’s final round.

(Oct. 22, 2017)– On a day when birdies were hard to come by, ETSU’s women’s golf team finds itself in 16th place after the first round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate tournament, Sunday in Kiawah Island, S.C. The Bucs’ Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) was one of only six players to finish break-even or better on the par-72, 5981-yard Turtle Point Golf Course. The junior went even par on Sunday – going 36 on the front nine and 36 after the turn – to tie for 5th on the individual leaderboard.

Melecka Leads Bucs to Strong 2nd at Johnie Imes

COLUMBIA, Mo. (Oct. 3, 2017) – The ETSU women’s golf team put two players in the top three on the leaderboard – including medalist Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) – and finished a solid second after the final two rounds of the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday in Columbia, Mo. Missouri, the home team, won its fourth straight Johnie Imes with a team score of 861, six better than ETSU. The Bucs shot 285 in the 2nd round and 287 in the 3rd – the 2nd-best out of 14 teams in each round. Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) finished 3rd in the individual standings.

ETSU is tied with North Texas, a mere one stroke behind Middle Tennessee for 2nd. The first day provided a closely-contested tournament in which just 13 shots separate 2nd place from 14th.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 24, 2017) – ETSU’s women’s golf team held steady to finish 11th out of 17 teams after the third and final round of the Lady Paladin Invitational on Sunday in Greensville, S.C. The Bucs’ 297 team score on Sunday was their best of the weekend by five shots. Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) led ETSU with a 1-under par 71 on Sunday, winding up 7th in the individual standings.

Women's Golf Tees Up Fall Season

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 17, 2017) -- In the last full week of summer, ETSU’s women’s golf team begins its 2017 fall schedule at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. The first two rounds will be Monday, September 18, with the final round on Tuesday, September 19.

ETSU Places 193 Student-Athletes on 2016-17 SoCon Honor Roll

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (July 6, 2017) – The Southern Conference released its 2016-17 academic honor roll on Thursday, and ETSU placed 193 student-athletes on the list. In total, a league-record 2,100 student-athletes from the 10 member institutions and 13 associate members earned the distinction.
