NORMAN, Okla. (Feb. 8, 2018) -- As the ETSU women’s golf team prepares for the start of its spring season, there’s good news for one of the Bucs’ top players. Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) is up one spot to 18th in the latest standings for the Arnold Palmer Cup, released today by Golf Coaches Association of America. The ETSU junior is the highest-ranked player from a mid-major program. The Bucs open their 2018 spring season at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in South Carolina, February 25-27.
NORMAN, Okla. (Nov. 16, 2017) -- ETSU women's golfer Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) is in the running for one of the most prestigious honors in collegiate golf -- a spot in the Arnold Palmer Cup. Event organizers announced November 15 that the Bucs junior and reigning Southern Conference Player of the Year is 19th among International players. The top 12 men's and women's players, American and International, earn spots in the Arnold Palmer Cup. The top six in the last pre-event rankings – due out next spring – automatically qualify.
BUCKINGHAMSHIRE, England (Nov. 7, 2017) -- Former ETSU golfer Nina Muehl (Vienna, Austria) has taken an important step forward in her professional career, securing a full-time exemption to the Ladies’ European Tour for next year. Muehl finished tied for 6th in the LET Access Series El Saler tournament in Valencia, Spain on October 27. The result put her 3rd in the LETAS 2017 Order of Merit, where the top five earn their tour cards for the 2018 Ladies European Tour. The LETAS is the official developmental tour to the Ladies European Tour, much the same role the Web.com Tour serves to the men’s PGA Tour in the United States. The native of Vienna, Austria finished in the top ten in ten of her last 13 tournaments, and shot a course record 64 in the second round of the Bossey Ladies Championship in Bossey, France on August 16.

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 24, 2017) – Propelled by their best round of the tournament, ETSU’s women’s golf team moved up two spots Tuesday on the third and final day of the Palmetto Intercollegiate in Kiawah Island, S.C. The Bucs’ 297 team score was ten shots better than Monday’s second round and put them at 918 for the tournament. Tuesday’s result lifted ETSU to 13th in the standings in their final event of the 2017 fall season.
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 23, 2017) – ETSU’s women’s golf team took a step up in the second round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate tournament on Monday, with four of the five players improving their scores, and the one who didn’t remaining in contention for Medalist honors. The Bucs’ team score 307 was seven shots better than Sunday’s first round, bumped them to 15th in the team standings, and put the team in a position to contend for a spot in the top ten in tomorrow’s final round.
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (Oct. 22, 2017)– On a day when birdies were hard to come by, ETSU’s women’s golf team finds itself in 16th place after the first round of the Palmetto Intercollegiate tournament, Sunday in Kiawah Island, S.C. The Bucs’ Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) was one of only six players to finish break-even or better on the par-72, 5981-yard Turtle Point Golf Course. The junior went even par on Sunday – going 36 on the front nine and 36 after the turn – to tie for 5th on the individual leaderboard.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 21, 2017) – ETSU’s women’s golf team has made strides in its 2017 fall season, and will get in one more tournament before winter arrives. The Bucs begin play tomorrow in the Palmetto Intercollegiate, at the Turtle Point Golf Course in Kiawah Island, S.C. The three-round event concludes on Tuesday, October 24.
COLUMBIA, Mo. (Oct. 3, 2017) – The ETSU women’s golf team put two players in the top three on the leaderboard – including medalist Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic) – and finished a solid second after the final two rounds of the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday in Columbia, Mo. Missouri, the home team, won its fourth straight Johnie Imes with a team score of 861, six better than ETSU. The Bucs shot 285 in the 2nd round and 287 in the 3rd – the 2nd-best out of 14 teams in each round. Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) finished 3rd in the individual standings.
COLUMBIA, Mo. (Oct. 2, 2017) – Buoyed by a strong showing from freshman Tereza Melecka (Belcovice, Czech Republic), the ETSU women’s golf team stands firmly in contention after the first round of the Johnie Imes Invitational on Monday in Columbia, Mo. The Bucs’ 295 team score has them tied for 3rd the 14-team field, just seven shots back of the top team, Missouri, which is hosting the tournament on the par-72, 6204-yard The Club at Old Hawthorne. ETSU is tied with North Texas, a mere one stroke behind Middle Tennessee for 2nd. The first day provided a closely-contested tournament in which just 13 shots separate 2nd place from 14th.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 24, 2017) – ETSU’s women’s golf team held steady to finish 11th out of 17 teams after the third and final round of the Lady Paladin Invitational on Sunday in Greensville, S.C. The Bucs’ 297 team score on Sunday was their best of the weekend by five shots. Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia) led ETSU with a 1-under par 71 on Sunday, winding up 7th in the individual standings.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 23, 2017) – ETSU’s women’s golf team toiled on a hot day, but couldn’t stay near the top in the second day of the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C. ETSU began the day in 5th place in a 17-team field, but a rough front nine in which every player was over par dropped the Bucs to 11th with one round left to play on the par-72, 6278-yard Furman University Golf Course.
GREENVILLE, S.C. (Sept. 22, 2017) – ETSU’s women’s golf team improved in each round of its first tournament of the fall season, finishing well at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship earlier this week. The Bucs picked up where they left off in their next event, standing in a tie for 5th out of 17 teams after the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C. Led by another strong showing from Hee Ying Loy (Johor, Malaysia), ETSU stands in a tie for 5th place out of 17 teams after the first round of the Lady Paladin Invitational on Friday in Greenville, S.C.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 19, 2017) – ETSU’s women’s golf team finished well at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships on Tuesday, moving up one spot in the team standings and putting two players in the individual top 30 after the third and final round. The Bucs’ team score of 284 tied for the 4th-best on the day, pushing them up to 11th. The Bucs improved in all three rounds at the Cherokee Country Club.
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (Sept. 18, 2017) – It took a round for the ETSU women’s golf to get going, but the Bucs finished strongly on the first day of the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship in Knoxville, Tenn. ETSU was 15th after the first round, but moved up to 12th by the end of day.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 17, 2017) -- In the last full week of summer, ETSU’s women’s golf team begins its 2017 fall schedule at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. The three-round tournament at the par-70, 6370-yard Cherokee Country Club will consist of three rounds. The first two rounds will be Monday, September 18, with the final round on Tuesday, September 19.

(Aug. 22, 2017) – ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland announced Tuesday a transition plan for the leadership of the Buccaneers’ Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, as former ETSU football standout and current Senior Associate Athletic Director/Chief Operating Officer Scott Carter will assume the role of director of intercollegiate athletics in September.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (July 6, 2017) – The Southern Conference released its 2016-17 academic honor roll on Thursday, and ETSU placed 193 student-athletes on the list. In total, a league-record 2,100 student-athletes from the 10 member institutions and 13 associate members earned the distinction.
MESQUITE, Nev. (June 7, 2017) – Just a year into her professional long-drive career, ETSU women’s assistant golf coach Chloe Garner won the women’s World Long Drive Championship at the Clash in the Canyon in Mesquite, Nevada on Wednesday.
