Johnson City, Tenn.-- The East Tennessee State women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Western Carolina Tuesday afternoon at the Liberty Bell Soccer Complex.
The Catamounts' Kelly Barker scored the eventual game-winner with 11:24 elapsed when she buried a cross from teammate Felicia Wilson that fell 5 yards in front of Buccaneer goalkeeper Heather Sanden.
Offensively, the Bucs were limited in the first half, as they only managed two shots against the Catamount defense. The second half proved more productive as the Bucs had chances but could not convert on the offensive end.
Sanden recorded 11 saves on the afternoon for the Bucs, while Western Carolina goalkeeper Mandi Tinsley stopped three shots for the Catamounts.
With the loss, the Bucs drop to 6-7 overall, 0-5 in the Southern Conference. Western Carolina improves to 8-6-1 overall, 2-4 in the Southern Conference.
The Bucs will return to action this weekend as they hit the road for a pair of Southern Conference matches. Friday the Bucs will face College of Charleston at 7 p.m. The Bucs will then visit Georgia Southern for a Sunday afternoon kickoff at 1 p.m.
