Women's Soccer Adds Six for 2004 Season

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 18, 2004) - East Tennessee State University women's soccer head coach Heather Henson has announced the commitment of six individuals to join the Buccaneer program for the 2004 season. The signees include forwards Keri Dusch (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Adrian Mobley (Framingham, Mass.) midfielders Katie O'Bryan (Hampton, Va.) and Aubree Snyder (Reading Pa.) and goalkeeper Christine Parks (Annapolis, Md.). The sixth addition to the Buccaneer squad will be midfielder Carrie Hill (Hampton, Va.). The addition of these players will round out the Buccaneer squad as they look to improve upon their most successful season in the history of the program. Henson stated, "We are very excited about the six student-athletes we have brought in. I feel we have addressed our needs and I know that all of them will contribute both on and off the field in many ways. I have no doubt that this recruiting class combined with our returnees is up for the challenge of the 2004 season. I can't wait to have these ladies here in Buc blue and gold." 2004 Recruiting Class Keri Dusch * Forward/Midfielder * Virginia Beach, Va. * Frank W. Cox H.S. * Beach FC Riptides Prep: Four-year letterwinner four-time state finalist team leader in assists for four years placed in the top three for most goals scored for five years played for the Laffayette Drachens, Atlantic Cougars, and Beach FC Riptides member of her high school's Key Club. Personal: Born on Nov. 28, 1985 plans to major in English daughter of Mark and Christine Dusch her father Mark was a four-year collegiate letterwinner and two-time All-American in soccer at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania her mother Christine was also a letterwinner in soccer and tennis. Coach Henson on Dusch: Keri is a good athlete that comes from a strong soccer history, both of her parents were collegiate athletes with her father being a two-time All-American. She is a very scrappy forward who uses her athletic ability to create opportunities. Carrie Hill * Midfielder * Hixson, TN. * Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences * Redoubt Lady Generals Prep: Four-year letterwinner earned all area second team honors and team MVP in her freshman season in her second year, again earned all-area second team honors as well as all-district first team was the sixth leading scorer in the area as a midfielder in 2001 and earned co-MVP honors earned team MVP again in her junior season selected to the all-district first team and all-region first team in 2002 played for the second place state Redoubt Lady Generals club team all-around athlete four year letterwinner in basketball selected to the all-district and all-tournament teams was co-captain of the team her junior year and earned the Patriot award also participated in cross country in her junior year and tennis for the past five years active in her high school's student government and Model United Nations organizations member of the Paideia Society for honors students. Personal: Born on Dec. 30, 1885 plans to major in history with a minor in secondary education daughter of Steve and Vicki Hill. Coach Henson on Hill: Carrie is a good athlete that will add needed depth to our team. Carrie has the desire and tools to be a very good player in our program. She is a hard player that likes to get stuck in - this trait will allow us to play her in multiple positions. Adrian Mobley * Forward/Midfielder * Framingham, Mass. * Framingham H.S. * Boston Renegades Prep: Three-year letterwinner played for the Boston Renegades U-17 team and helped them the North East Regional Championship title played for the 2003 Olympic Development Super Y league's North East Regional Pool Team and Umbro North American Final Team member of the undefeated state championship Massachusetts District Three select team in 2003 all-around athlete lettered three years in track and field participating in the long jump and sprinting events named as a two year all-star in track and field played as a guard and was a two-year letterwinner in basketball. Personal: Born on Feb. 5, 1986 plans to major in broadcasting communications daughter of Willie and Cecelia Mobley brother Tyrone played collegiate basketball at Birmingham Southern and was a member of the NAIA National Basketball Championship team in 1990. Coach Henson on Mobley: Adrian is an athlete - she possesses great speed and can be dangerous from many positions. I feel she will add to our team speed and make us more dangerous in the attacking third. Katie O'Bryan * Midfielder * Hampton, Va. * Kecoughton H.S. * Beach FC Riptides Prep: Four-year letterwinner in soccer first team all-district selection in 2001 and 2003 second team all-region in 2003 member of the Daily Press All-Star Team in 2001 and 2003 participated in the District Olympic Development program from 1998 thru 2001 Beach FC Riptides team captain in 2003 member of the Virginia State team from 1999 thru 2001 all-around athlete three-year letterwinner in field hockey second team all-district selection in 2003 Daily Press All-Star team in 2002 and 2003 member of her high school's French club and French Honor Society National Honor Society member named to Who's Who Among American High School Students. Personal: Born on Feb. 25, 1986 plans to major in biology daughter of Thomas and Beverly O'Bryan full name is Sarah Katherine O'Bryan. Coach Henson on O'Bryan: To describe Katie is to talk about being a competitor. She has a great awareness of the field along with her skillful play gives her the ability to deliver the final pass. She is also a solid defender; this trait makes her a pretty complete player. Christine Parks * Goalkeeper * Annapolis, Md. * Old Mill H.S. * Maryland United Prep: Four-year starter and letterwinner voted her team's MVP in 2002 and defensive player of the year in 2003 played for Maryland United participated in Maryland's Olympic Development Program for four years traveled to England with the U-15 Olympic Development Program won the Mike Curry Goalkeeping Academy's Golden Gloves Award active in student government at her high school member of National Art Honor Society. Personal: Born on July, 25, 1986 has yet to decide on a major daughter of Michael and Joan Parks. Coach Henson on Parks: Christine has her best soccer in front of her. She is a fearless keeper that attacks the ball. She has quick feet and has a good understanding of angles. She will compete immediately for a position. Aubree Snyder * Midfielder * Reading, Pa. * Wilson H.S. * FC Delco Fire Prep: Four-year letterwinner helped her high school team to a second-place finish in 2001 member of the Club State Cup Championship team in 2002 and 2003 member of the regional runner-up team in 2002 winner of the 2002 State Cup Fair Play Award member of the FC Delco Fire from 2001 to 2004 helped the Fire to a Region 1 finalist spot , Pa. State Champs title, and a sixth-place national ranking in 2002 Captain of the FC Delco Fire for three years participant in the Pennsylvanian Olympic Development Program and selected to the ODP Regional Pool member of her high school's National Honor Society and Key Club active in the Youth and Government Club. Personal: Born on March 20, 1986 plans to major in business daughter of Scott Snyder and Rochelle Owens. Coach Henson on Snyder: Aubree is going to be exciting to watch. She has an extremely good work-rate and is a hard-nosed player. She combines great defending with the ability to control the tempo of the game and a desire to attack. She has a unique ability to stay calm and get the job done.
