JOHNSON CITY,
"We are excited to add Kelsey to the 2009 incoming freshman class," said Henson. "She will continue to give depth to the keeper position. She understands the demands set on student-athletes in the area of academics, athletics and community service. Kelsey has experienced a number of pressure situations in state championship matches, both in high school and with her club team that will benefit her as she makes the transition to the collegiate level."
Meigs comes to
In addition to her high school career Meigs was a standout on her local Alameda Flash club team. Under club coach John Sheppard the U-18 Flash put together back-to-back appearances in both the 2008 and 2009 New Mexico State Cup. In 2008 Meigs led the Flash to her second state title of the season, while in 2009
Off the field Meigs boasted a 3.25 GPA and was a member of the International Honor Society for Music, the 2008 Honor Roll and Tri-Mexico Music Honor Society. Outside the classroom Meigs found time to volunteer as a camp counselor, while building homes for Hubble House and Operation Smile. In addition to her academic and community service awards, the daughter of Daniel and Marion Meigs is an accomplished fiddle player and plans to major in both Music and English at ETSU.
