September 30, 2010
It has been another long week for the ETSU women's soccer team. We have all been stressed with classes and soccer. These are weeks where classes get tough, and tests start to pour in. We have kept the same schedule with soccer having practice and weights and meeting with our mental coach. We've had a couple of team bonding activities this week. In the first one we did, we all met and went to the Men's soccer game together. It's always good for us to support them and then see the support we get back from them as our teams are very close with one another. The second thing we did as a team was that we went to Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). I was the speaker that night, and my teammates who wanted to come and support me that were able to come were there. It was a great experience for us. Not only was the week long but we had a lot more to worry about than school… it was our first conference weekend.
Friday was GAME DAY, ETSU versus Lipscomb University. It was our second conference game of the year. We had our pre-game meal as usual and then it was time to head to the locker room to get pumped up. There are a lot of things that go in the locker room before games that just stays between a team… but I will say Jessica Huntington and Caitlin Gaughan's dancing always gets everyone ready right before Coach walks in to give us our pre-game talk. Then it was game time. We came out with a 2-0 win! It felt so good to walk off the field with yet another conference win under our belt, but we knew we had a tough game to get ready for with Belmont. Saturday we had practice at 11:00 a.m., and it was a good day of rest for us all. We knew come Sunday we were going to have to be mentally and physically ready for the game against Belmont. Before we knew it Sunday arrived and it was GAME DAY. We had our pre-game meal at 10:30 a.m., and then we did like always heading to the locker room to get ready. It had rained all night and was still raining, so we knew it was about to be a muddy war. We had a hard fight against Belmont… They scored… we scored… we scored… they scored. It was a battle till the end. We went into double overtime. We did not come out on top this time around. We had a hard weekend, but we are not dwelling on the loss, rather we are looking forward to the weekend we have ahead of us. We leave Thursday at 11:00 a.m. for the University of North Florida. This weekend we will be playing two more conference teams, UNF and JU. Wish us luck as we travel to Florida! GO BUCS!
Until next time,
Tori Head #11
