ETSU wraps up exhibition slate
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (August 20, 2013) – ETSU put the finishing touches on an unbeaten exhibition slate last night with a commanding 3-0 win over Lees-McRae College.
The Buccaneers’ victory over Lees-McRae comes on the heels of a 3-2 win at Radford Aug. 13.
ETSU’s defense allowed just nine combined shots in the two matches.
In the win over Lees-McRae, the Buccaneers outshot the Bobcats 23 to 3, including goals by sophomore Alexa Passingham (Leicestershire, England), freshman Jenny Pöltl (Steinberg-Dorfl, Austria), and junior Emily Engelhaupt (Charlotte, N.C.).
Freshman Molly Collinson (Cramlington, England) accounted for two of the team’s three goals against Radford, with senior Molly Vaughn (Nashville, Tenn.) scoring the other. Reigning Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year Sarah Zadrazil (St. Gilgen, Austria) assisted Collinson on a goal in the matches 32nd minute, Collinson’s second goal of the half.
The Buccaneers will look to carry the momentum gained from the wins into regular season play when they travel to Appalachian State this Friday (Aug 23). ETSU will then visit Virginia Tech Aug. 25 before hosting VMI in the Buccaneers’ home opener Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. inside Summers-Taylor Stadium.
