JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 19, 2013) - The ETSU women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four matches with a 2-0 win over Francis Marion Thursday night at Summers-Taylor Stadium.
Two first-half goals by the Buccaneers (4-3-1) were too much for Francis Marion to overcome, as ETSU cruised to its third win in the past four matches.
Junior Ellis Parsons (Cardiff, Wales) gave ETSU a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute. The goal, which came off an assist from sophomore Hannah Short (Bristol, England) was Parsons' second of the season.
Short picked up another assist just 13 minutes later, setting up Kristi Davis (Edmond, Okla.) for her team-best fifth goal of the season.
Davis' 10 points this season (five goals) are the second-most of any ETSU player, trailing only Sarah Zadrazil (St. Gilgen, Austria) and her 12 points (three goals, six assists).
In her first three games since returning from injury, Short has recorded at least one point in each contest. The Bristol, England, native now has three assists on the season to go along with one goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Anna Yancey (Rosemark, Tenn.) recorded her third shutout of the season. Yancey has allowed just one goal in four starts.
With the win, the Buccaneers remained unbeaten at home this season, picking up their third home win in as many tries.
ETSU will be back in action Sunday, Sept. 21 as the team hosts Tennessee Tech at 1:00 p.m. on Senior Day. Prior to the match, ETSU will honor its outgoing senior class.
