Women’s soccer player honored for success on and off field

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 2, 2013) – ETSU women’s soccer player Summer Peterson (Lorton, Va.) has been selected as the first ever recipient of the State of Franklin Bank/ETSU Community Service Student-Athlete of the Month, an award recognizing the exemplary community service efforts of ETSU student-athletes.

In addition to excelling in the classroom and on the field, the junior midfielder volunteers regularly at the Niswonger Children’s Hospital in Johnson City.

“Summer [Peterson] always finds a way to make people smile while giving back to the community,” ETSU women’s soccer graduate assistant Laura Lamberth said. “She loves working with children and making them feel special.”

According to teammates and coaches, Peterson is always among the first to sign up for any team community service efforts.

State of Franklin Bank and ETSU are proud to recognize Peterson for her efforts in the Johnson City community.
