Womens Soccer Concludes Season With 2-1 Loss to Middle Tennessee State

Johnson City, Tenn.-- The East Tennessee State women's soccer team took an early 1-0 lead, but Middle Tennessee State scored two unanswered goals to win the match 2-1 on Oct. 29.

The Buccaneers (6-12, 0-9) opened the scoring as junior midfielder Courtney Edde scored the first goal of the game off of a corner kick from sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Smith with 21:52 elapsed. The Buccaneers held the lead for over ten minutes until MTSU (8-10) tied the score at one when Jenny Cox scored on a breakaway assisted by Allison Schulz. The Blue Raiders scored the decisive goal with 87:52 elapsed when Kenya Hickey scored on a pass from the left post by Schulz.

ETSU also received strong games from Lisa Gallagher, Kristin Redfern and Lena Summers who each registered shots on goal. Freshman goalkeeper Heather Sanden was solid in goal, stopping ten Blue Raider shots on the afternoon.

The Buccaneers conclude their most successful season in the history of the program at 6-12 overall, 0-9 in the Southern Conference.
