Friday, September 01, 2000

RADFORD, Va. (September 1, 2000) -- Kristin Redfern knocked home a loose ball in the goalie box in the 110th minute to give E. Tennessee St. a 3-2 victory over Radford Friday evening in womens soccer action at the Dedmon Center Stadium.

The loss drops RUs record to 1-1 while ETSU improves to 1-1.

With a steady rain persisting the entire game, RU goalie Alison Conradi couldnt grab the slippery ball in the box before Redfern controlled it and deposited it in the back of the net for the game winner.

The Highlanders got on the board first when Jevne Reid scored her first goal of the year on a blast from 20 yards out just 12:05 into the game. The Buccaneers responded when Lena Summers scored from 25 yards out in the 42nd minute.

Reid gave RU a 2-1 edge when she took a pass from Susan Melanson and beat ETSU goalie Heather Sanden in the 59th minute.

The Buccaneers responded again when Lisa Gallagher booted the ball past Conradi with just over 20 minutes left in the game.

Sanden picked up the win recording nine saves.
