Boone, N.C. -- The East Tennessee State women's soccer team (1-9-1, 0-5-0) loses a close game to the Appalachian State Mountaineers (4-5-3, 2-2-1) by the score of 0-1 on Tuesday night in Kidd Brewer Stadium. This is the Buccaneers sixth straight loss.
The game was a defensive struggle until ASU freshman forward Page Luhman headed a ball off a corner kick from teammate Kristen Goldsmith at the 15:42 in the first half. The Mountaineers had ten corner kicks in the match while ETSU had none. The Bucs were shot by ASU 4-15 and had two shots on goal on the evening.
ETSU goalkeeper Heather Sanden made 10 saves and allowed one goal while Appalachian State's Breland Meany earned two saves and her fifth shut out of the season. Sanden has 98 saves on the season and has allowed 35 goals.
The Buccaneers return home this weekend to the Liberty Bell Soccer Complex to host the Furman Paladins on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 2:00 pm.
