Tuesday, March 11, 2003JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (March 11, 2003) - East Tennessee State University's head women's soccer coach Heather Henson announced the signing of goalkeeper Sarah Prendergast for the upcoming fall season. The addition gives the Buccaneers a total of 11 new faces for the 2003 campaign. "I am very excited with the addition of Sarah to our team," Henson said. "She is a hardworking athletic keeper with a great physical presence." Prendergast joins the Buccaneers from Palm Bay, Fla. where she was a four-year letterwinner for Bayside High School. She was the 2001 Player of the Year for her former club team and currently plays for the Melbourne Beach Tsunami. At 6'1", Prendergast has the potential to be an intimidating force at goal and will add greater depth to the position behind senior and 2002-second team All Southern Conference selection Heather Sanden. The Buccaneers will open up the 2003 campaign on Aug. 29-30 as they travel to Austin Peay State University to participate in the Austin Peay Invitational.
