Buccaneers Drop Heartbreaker in 2 OT's

Johnson City, Tenn. (September 16, 2002) - The East Tennessee State University women's soccer team lost a heartbreaker to the Samford Bulldogs, 1-0, in two overtimes Monday night. This marked the first ever meeting between the two teams, which found the Bulldogs undefeated thus far. ETSU dropped to 2-3, 1-0 in conference play, while Samford pushed their streak to seven. The game-winning goal was scored off of a header by freshman Mary Ann Wagner, her first goal on the season and career. ETSU keeper Heather Sanden (Manassas, Va.) had seven saves on the night as the Bulldogs out-shot the Buccaneers 19-4 in the match. ETSU will be back in action Friday September 20th against Southern Conference opponent UNC Greensboro at 7:00.
