Sunday, October 26, 2003

GREENSBORO, N.C. (October 26, 2003) - UNC Greensboro midfielder Rakel Logadottir scored the game's lone goal, 2:50 into the first overtime, as the Spartans defeated the East Tennessee State Buccaneers, 1-0, in women's college soccer action, Sunday afternoon at a wet UNCG Soccer Stadium. UNCG improves to 9-6-2 overall, 7-2-0 in the SoCon, while ETSU falls to 11-4-0 overall and 6-3-0 in the SoCon. Logadottir, who scored her sixth goal of the season, took a feed from Carolyn Lindsay, and found the left corner of the net, from 12 yards out. "East Tennessee State played very hard, like we thought they would", said UNCG head coach Eddie Radwanski. "Our kids were very solid defensively. We kept on knocking on the door offensive and we percerveried. We found a way to win." ETSU goalkeeper Heather Sanden (Manassas, Va.) made six save for the Bucs, while UNCG goalkeeper Jennifer Stillman stopped two shots in the shutout. The ETSU Bucs will next take on the Davidson Wildcats on Thursday October 30 at 7 p.m.
