SPARTANBURG, SC (October 7, 2003) - East Tennessee State's Andrea Brown has been named the SoCon Women's Soccer Player of the Week for the week of October 7. Brown scored the game-winning goal in both of the Buccaneers' SoCon victories this week, against The Citadel, 6-0, and Georgia Southern, 3-2 in two overtimes. For the week, she scored three goals on nine shots. One of two seniors on the Buccaneers' squad, the midfielder from High Point, NC (High Point Central HS) currently ranks fourth in the SoCon in points (13), second in goals scored (6), and second in game-winning goals (3). "Andrea really stepped up in our games last week. She and the team have put a lot of sweat into this season," commented head coach Heather Henson. "Andrea shows the desire and drive to make a mark for the team's accomplishments as well as her own individual accomplishments. I can't express how happy I am for her." Brown and the East Tennessee State Buccaneers travel to play Western Carolina at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
