JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 24, 2004) - The East Tennessee State University women's soccer team fell in a tough battle to league-leading Davidson in a 1-0 decision at Liberty Bell Field. ETSU falls to 5-7-3 overall, 2-4-3 in the SoCon with the loss, while Davidson's record improves to 10-6-1, 7-1-1 in the win.

At the end of the first half, the shots for each team would stand close with the Bucs making eight and the Wildcats posting nine.

ETSU would have an offensive run in the last minutes of the half with two shots off of a corner kick, but the Davidson defense would thwart their attempts sending the game into the second half tied at 0-0.

The intensity would build in second half as both teams looked for the first goal of the game. With 10:06 remaining in the game, the silence would be broken with a goal from Davidson's Jessica Lahre. Lahre put the shot in to the left post off of a pass by Kara Koehrn for what would become the game-winning goal.

"Today we came more focused and driven. Being focused helped us to eliminate Davidson's advantages on restarts," stated Head Coach Heather Henson. "We just need some good luck in addition to battling hard on the field."

As the end of the match drew near the Bucs had their opportunities, but were unable to find the back of the net.

Christine Parks (Annapolis, Md.) made nine saves for the Bucs in goal and holds a 3-4-2 record, while Sarah Hobart made five saves for the Wildcats and is 10-6-1 overall.

The Buccaneers last home match of the 2004 season is set for this Friday, October 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Liberty Bell against the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Senior Jennifer Fields (Mount Airy, Md.) will be recognized prior to the start of the game.

"Jen has given four years of dedication to this program," said Henson. "The team will come out to support her by making a strong effort on senior night, and I hope the fans will come out to support her as well."
