ETSU women's soccer beats Jacksonville State in double overtime, 4-3

(Sept. 12, 2004) - Freshman Keri Dusch's (Virginia Beach, Va.) first goal as a Buccaneer clinched ETSU's victory in double overtime against Jacksonville State University on Sunday in the second day of the GSU Marriott Invitational with a 4-3 final. ETSU women's soccer is now 3-2-0 with the victory, while Jacksonville State falls to 3-3-0. Junior defender Kerri Burke (Raleigh, N.C.) led the scoring for the Bucs with the first goal coming just five minutes into the game. Burke's goal was unassisted. The Gamecocks would tie up the game at one all with a goal from Courtney Moore at the 20:53 mark. Each team would score again before the end of the first half to make the score 2-2, ETSU with another unassisted goal by Erin Ashton (New Bern, N.C.) and Jacksonville State with a goal by Breanne Milne. In the second half of play, ETSU would try to take the lead with a goal from Emily Fulcher (New Bern, N.C.) at the 63:46 mark. Katie O'Bryan (Hampton, Va.) assisted on Fulcher's goal, her first goal of the season. ETSU's would keep the lead until Joanna McCaughey would score to make it 3-3 with little over a minute remaining in regulation forcing overtime, where Dusch would score for the Bucs. ETSU would make 11 shots in the game to Jacksonville State's 18. Freshman Chrissy Parks (Annapolis, Md.) played the entire length of the game and picked up the win to improve to 3-2-0 for the season. In the game Parks made nine saves. ETSU continues road action as they travel to take on the Radford Highlanders next Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
