JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 7, 2004) - The East Tennessee State University women's soccer team in cooperation with the Elizabethton Parks and Recreation Department held a soccer clinic this past Saturday at the ETSU Nave Center.
Children between 5 and 12 years old participated in the Bucs' first soccer clinic in the Elizabethton area.
"We had a good group of children attend," stated head coach Heather Henson. "We had a lot of children from 5 to 7 and that is a great age to work with. They love playing and kicking a soccer ball."
Through the clinic, children were able to work with members of the ETSU soccer team to develop their technical skills of the game including passing, shooting, dribbling, and heading.
"I think the children loved the playing and dribbling stations the best," commented Henson. "We hope to continue to build this relationship between the soccer community of Elizabethton and ETSU Soccer."
The Bucs, who won in Monday night's contest against UNC Asheville 1-0, continue their season with a road trip to the Georgia State Invitational Tournament this weekend. Games are Sept. 10 at 7:00p.m. against Georgia State, and Sept. 12 at 10:00 a.m. against Jacksonville State.
