Saturday, October 07, 2006

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (October 7, 2006) - The ETSU women's soccer team fell in a hard fought battle to the conference leading Kennesaw State Owls, 2-1 on Saturday night. The Bucs fall to 3-7-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference while the Owls improve to 8-1-1, 4-0-1.

In the first half the Owls jumped out to an early lead when Rebecca Hall headed the ball past Erin Bilyeu (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) on a pass from Stephanie Grzeszkowiak during the 8th minute of play.

The Bucs responded quickly as freshmen Jordan Monty (Dallas, Texas) found the back of the net in the 24th minute to tie the match up heading into halftime.

In the second, the Bucs continued to battle, but the Owls would score one more time as Laura Tucker would find the back of the net in the 70th minute.

"This game was a great game to watch," said head coach Heather Henson. "It was a very aggressive battle between two very determined teams. Bilyeu did a great job for us tonight and really made some pivotal saves. We finally have all our players out on the field and that has really helped make a difference. The fans that came out tonight really had a great match to watch."

The Bucs will hit the road for a two game road swing as they take on Gardner-Webb on October 12 at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Campbell on October 14.
