JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 13, 2007) - The ETSU women's soccer team made history in 2007 earning an 11-6-3 overall record and earning its first ever postseason victory. The Bucs finished the Atlantic Sun Conference with a 6-4-1 record, while earning a fourth-place finish, tying their highest ever conference finish.

Individually, eight players contributed to the offensive effort that was led by sophomore Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) and freshman Terri Miller (Cape Coral, Fla.). Monty led the team with 29 points, 61 shots, 11 goals and seven assists. Miller started her career on a high note with 26 points, 31 shots 11 goals and four assists as well as recording a hat-trick against Radford. Junior Katie Green (Knoxville, Tenn.) also set a new single season record for assists dishing out 11.

ETSU also took home two tournament titles this season. The Bucs won two matches to take home the Gamecock Soccer Classic and Katie Green, Terri Miller and Jordan Monty were all named to the Gamecock Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team, while Monty was also named the Tournament Offensive MVP after recording two goals and one assist during the tournament. ETSU also collected the inaugural ETSU Invitational crown as they tied Tennessee Tech and defeated Western Carolina. Katie Green was named the Tournament Offensive MVP and was named to the All-Tournament Team with teammates Jordan Monty, Kelly Brinkman (Clearwater, Fla) and Erin Bilyeu (Murfreesboro, Tenn.).

The Bucs garnered several individual A-Sun Conference awards this season as well. A trio of freshmen were honored for their play as Terri Miller and Kelly Brinkman were named A-Sun Offensive Player of the Week and Rachel Van Horn (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) was named A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week during the season. Brinkman received the honor twice. The Bucs also had three members of the squad placed on the Atlantic Sun All-Conference Second Team: Jordan Monty, Katie Green and Kelly Brinkman. Brinkman was all named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen Team. At the conclusion of the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship Jordan Monty was also honored with a position on the All-Tournament Team.

As a team, the Bucs broke two records and tied another. The Bucs dished out 34 assists on the season smashing the previous record of 27 set in 2000. They also broke the season record in points accumulating 110 on the year. ETSU also tied a school record recording six shutouts on the season.

At the close of the 2007 season, the team had to say a fond farewell to the winningest senior class in ETSU history: Hannah Johnson (Soddy-Daisy, Tenn.), Katie O'Bryan (Hampton, Va.) and Aubree Snyder (Reading, Pa.). Johnson, a versatile player who rose to the occasion every time she was called on including dishing out an assist on the game-winning goal against Stetson that clinched a spot in the Atlantic Sun Championships for the Bucs. O'Bryan leaves the Bucs tied for fourth in career matches played with 72. Her great work rate in every game she played in helped create many scoring opportunities. Snyder leaves ETSU as a true competitor with the calmness to create and has been one of the most dominating forces in the air to ever wear a Buccaneer uniform. This class played a large role in helping grow the program and their leadership will be missed.
