DELAND, Fla. (Oct. 28, 2007) - The ETSU women's soccer team continued its winning ways as the Bucs dropped the Stetson Hatters, 3-2 in two overtimes on Sunday afternoon. With the victory the Bucs improve to 9-5-3 overall and 5-4-1 in A-Sun play while the Hatters fall to 7-9-1 and 5-5-0.

ETSU and Stetson battled for the lead in the first half as the Hatters outshot the Bucs 6-1, but were unable to convert to remain in a 0-0 deadlock going into halftime.

In the second period the Hatters jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Tessa Gavilsky netted her fourth goal of the season during the 55th minute but two minutes later Kelly Brinkman (Clearwater, Fla.) tied the match at 1-1 on a pass from Katie Green (Knoxville, Tenn.).

The Hatters again took the lead during the 83rd minute when Jennifer Hays scored on a long volley from Gavilsky. The Bucs continued to battle back however as Terri Miller picked up her seventh goal of the season to tie the match with three minutes left in regulation.

In the first overtime the Bucs and Hatters continued to battle back and forth but remained in the 2-2 deadlock to send the match into a second overtime.

In the second overtime period the Bucs closed out the match when Stetson keeper Andrea Garavaglia came out on the high line and Miller shot the ball over Garavaglia's head from the top of the box. Brinkman and senior Hannah Johnson (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) were credited with the assists on the game-winning goal.

"Stetson did a great job of putting us under pressure. They pretty much controlled the game and it was pretty much a dogfight because both teams weren't willing to give up anything. We kept our head defensively and we played with a lot of passionate and were able to convert on the opportunities that we were given," said head coach Heather Henson.

The Bucs will return home to close out the regular season, as they will take on South Carolina Upstate on Saturday, Nov. 3. The match is also set to begin at 2 p.m. and will also be Senior Day for the Bucs.  Keep up with the ETSU women's soccer team by visiting www.ETSUBucs.com.
