JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2007) - The ETSU women's soccer team extended its winning streak to two and recorded its second consecutive shut out as they dropped Gardner-Webb, 2-0 on Thursday afternoon at Summers-Taylor Stadium. The Bucs improve to 6-4-2 overall and 2-3-0 in the A-Sun, while the Bulldogs fall to 4-8-0, 2-3-0.

In the first half both teams battled back and forth for control as the Bucs out-shot the Bulldogs 5-3 as they remained in a deadlock going into halftime.

Both teams continued to battle early in the second half but sophomore Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) netted her sixth goal of the season on a cross from Katie Green (Knoxville, Tenn.) in the 63rd minute to give the Bucs the 1-0 advantage.

ETSU extended its lead to 2-0 in the 76th minute when senior Katie O'Bryan (Hampton, Va.) rebounded the ball off the keeper for her first goal of the season.

For the match, the Bucs outshot the Bulldogs, 11-10. Leading the way for the Bucs offensively, Monty had five shots on the day, while Green contributed three.

Freshman Rachel Van Horn (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) stepped in at the goalkeeper position and recorded her first shutout. The Bucs now have four shutouts on the year which is second place on the team season records.

"We needed this win and we came out very focused in the first half and we really battled. Gardner-Webb always has a good team so it was a good battle for us. We made a couple of changes at halftime and in the second half we were able to execute those changes," said head coach Heather Henson. "Rachel also really stepped up for us today and did what she needed to do."

The Bucs will hit the road as they travel to take on Campbell on Saturday, October 13. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m. For all ETSU women's soccer action, visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
