Stetson blanks Tennessee Tech, 3-0

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 16, 2007) - On the second day of the ETSU Invitational presented by Citizens Bank the Stetson Hatters defeated Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles, 3-0. The Hatters improve to 2-2-1 overall, while the Golden Eagles fall to 1-4-1.

 

In the first half, Stetson jumped out to an early 2-0 lead as Jessica Spencer scored on a cross from Bethany Kiedis during the 14th minute, while Tessa Gavilsky passed the ball to Katie Bitetto for a goal on a corner kick from Julianne Turnbull only 10 minutes later.

 

Stetson continued to battle as Heather Berg found the back of the net from inside the box during the 62nd minute.

 

The Hatters outshot the Golden Eagles 14-7 and earned 7 corner kicks in the victory. Stetson keeper Loretta McNamee made four saves on the day.

 

For Tennessee Tech Katie Morrissey led the way with two shots on the game.
