JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (Sept. 7, 2007) - The ETSU women's soccer team picked up their first win of the young season Friday night as they blanked the Bulldogs of The Citadel at the Gamecock Soccer Classic hosted by Jacksonville State. The Bucs improve to 1-1-1 overall while the Bulldogs fall to 0-3-0.

The Bucs jumped out to an early lead as sophomore Jordan Monty (Mesquite, Texas) found the back of the net on a pass from Katie Green (Knoxville, Tenn.) in the 17th minute of play for her second goal of the season.

Just under fifteen minutes later the favor was returned as Green netted her first goal as a Buc on a pass from the corner of the box from Monty.

In the second half ETSU continued to dominate The Citadel as newcomer Morgan Jutras (Colleyville, Texas) scored on a pass from Rachel Layer (Bel Air, Md.) during the 57th minute.

Monty netted the last goal of the match on a corner kick with 20 minutes left in the half.

ETSU outshot The Citadel 22-6, while keeper Erin Bilyeu (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) made two saves on the night.

"Tonight the entire team worked together from the starters like Jordan to hose that came in off the bench like Morgan. The team did a good job of creating opportunities for the attack," said head coach Heather Henson. "It's always good to play a former rival from the Southern Conference and come out with a win. The Citadel fought and worked hard and forced us to continue to be creative in our attack."

The Bucs will remain in Jacksonville as they face Youngstown State on Sunday, Sept. 9. The match is slated to begin at 1 p.m. CST. For all ETSU women's soccer action, visit www.ETSUBucs.com.
