Bucs look for first win at Radford

RADFORD, Va. (Sept. 3, 2009) - After dropping a pair of matches last week, the ETSU women's soccer team contiunes to look for its first win as they travel to Radford for a 7:00 p.m., contest Friday evening at Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium in Radford, Va.

 

ETSU (0-3-0, 0-0-0 A-Sun) enters the game after falling in its home opener against Liberty, 2-1. After netting her first career goal against the Lady Flames, junior forward Jessica Huntington (Newsport News, Va.) returns to her home state, as she leads the Buc attack in goals, points and shot percentage.

 

Radford (2-0-0, 0-0-0 Big South) welcomes the Bucs after handing losses to Howard and Tennessee Tech during its opening weekend of play. The defending Big South champions are led by a pair of defensive stoppers in senior defender Amanda Heins and sophomore goalkeeper Lisa Lubke.

 

Heins was recently named the Big South Player of the Week after firing in her first career goal against Howard. The Sterling, Va., native leads the Highlander attack in goals, points and shot percentage.

 

Lubke returns for her second year in goal, after being named the 2009 Big South Preseason Player of the Year. Overall, the second-year keeper anchored Radford's defense a season ago, leading the conference in saves (118), save percentage (.855) and shutouts (6).

 

In its last meeting ETSU defeated Radford 3-1 during the 2007 season. In that match current junior Terri Miller (Cape Coral, Fla.) found the net three times for her first career hat trick. The Bucs lead the all-time series with the Highlanders 5-4-2.
