ETSU women's soccer picked to finish 8th

Monday, August 16, 2010

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 16, 2010) - The ETSU women's soccer team was picked to finish 8th in the Atlantic Sun Conference Preseason Coaches' poll, the conference office announced on Monday.

"As a team you hate to be picked eighth, but when it comes down to it where we are at the end of the season is what really matters," said head coach Heather Henson. "There is so much parity in this conference from top to bottom. Every weekend there will be some big games that will determine the outcome of the conference and we just need to focus on the task at hand."

2009 A-Sun Tournament Champion Kennesaw State was tabbed No.1 by the coaches getting eight of the 11 first place votes. Florida Gulf Coast was picked second, while Belmont was third. Jacksonville, Mercer, Stetson and Campbell make up 4-7, and North Florida, Lipscomb and USC Upstate round out the poll.

The Bucs open the regular season on Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. as they head to UNC Asheville. For more information on the ETSU women's soccer team, please visit www.ETSUBucs.com. Also you can follow daily post and updates on the official ETSU women's soccer Twitter page at www.twitter.com/ETSUSoccer.
