JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2010) - The ETSU women's soccer team saw its three-game win streak come to an end as the Bucs dropped a 3-2 double overtime contest to Belmont on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Summers-Taylor Stadium.

"Anytime you go to overtime it becomes a gut check for both teams, and the winning team is the one that gets the lucky bounce," said head coach Heather Henson. "Unfortunately it was Belmont that got the lucky bounce today, but our team fought hard and never gave up. We showed a lot of resiliency to come back after giving up the first goal, and despite the outcome I am proud of the way the team played today."

The Bucs (6-3-1, 2-1-0 A-Sun) outshot the Bruins (3-7-0, 2-2-0 A-Sun) 17-14 in the contest, but lost the battle in corners 11-3.

Neither team was able to get on the board in the first half as Belmont outshot ETSU 8-3 in the half.

In the second half, Laura Harris gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead in the 64th minute as she knocked in a loose ball off of a corner kick by Lauren Paynter.

The lead was short lived though, as senior Terri Miller (Cape Coral, Fla.) headed a cross from Kayla White (Virginia Beach, Va.) past Belmont's Nicole Berner to even the match at 1-all in the 65th minute.

ETSU grabbed a 2-1 advantage in the 81st minute as Miller netted her second goal of the afternoon. Genna Petersen (Loveland, Ohio) played a ball through to an open Miller who beat Berner for a breakaway goal.

Belmont answered in the 87th minute as the Bruins capitalized on another corner kick by Paynter as Marcela Sanchez tapped in a loose ball in front of the net to make the score 2-2.

The game would go into overtime as neither team was able to net a game-winner late in regulation.

In the second overtime, the Bruins caught a break as a Jessica Riz free kick from 35-yard out slipped past an ETSU defender and keeper Megan Masch (Virginia Beach, Va.) into the goal to make the final 3-2.

The Bucs are back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. as they head to Jacksonville to face North Florida.
