Our week would be a short one because we would be leaving Thursday morning to travel to Florida for our games against North Florida and Jacksonville. We were all very excited for our games, but not looking forward to the long nine-hour bus ride that it would take to get us there. Before we left, we had two solid practices along with weights and our meeting with Tami as we usually do each week. We had to really make sure to focus on our practices before we left because we only had the chance to practice a couple times before we were on the road.
All packed and ready, we left for Florida on Thursday morning. The bus ride was filled with lots of sleeping, laughter, watching movies, texting, reading, not doing homework (even though we know we should), and eating. All the usual things you'd expect a bus of twenty- two girls to be doing. The team decided to set up a little game for us to pass the time on our long trip. Each player and coach's name was written down on a sheet of paper and was distributed out to everyone on the bus. You then had to perform a task or do a certain action that this person does frequently and then everyone has to guess who you are acting out. Let's just say my team had a little bit too much fun with this exercise. We always like to take everything to the next level, and I guess that's just part of being a competitive athlete.
We stopped at Ruby Tuesday's for dinner in Georgia and then two hours later we finally arrived at the Courtyard hotel in Jacksonville, Fla. Finally it was game time, and although we did not come out of the weekend with the results that we wanted our intensity was high along with our concentration.  We came out with some bumps and bruises but nothing that we cannot fix for the next weekend. No team is perfect, nor does any team have a flawless game or season for that matter. Your true team colors are shown when you can come back from a tough weekend or after losing a couple of games. We will be back and ready to kick some Eagle butt on Friday, October 8 versus Florida Gulf Coast at 7 p.m., and also on Sunday, October 10 against the Stetson Hatters at 1 p.m.  Both games will be played at Summers-Taylor Stadium, so come out and support the women's soccer team! GO BUCS!!
Until next time,
Samantha Kron #4
